Nayara Barros
Nayara Barros is a Brazilian artist. Originally from Rio de Janeiro, she currently lives in Marseille where she creates a colorful universe mixing urban elements with fauna and flora on various media (textile, paper, objects).
Her lifelong fascination for the wildlife of her native Rio de Janeiro has inspired her to create poetic, loving and joyful visions of a lush fauna and flora.
The works exhibited, made with acrylic and ink, bring together snakes, birds, monkeys and bananas in a variety of colors on plain backgrounds. A dominant color is emerging: green, a color that is particularly meaningful to Nayara, since it is the color of the forest so present in her hometown. Her aesthetic makes us plunge into it through the imaginary and the dream, reminding us of the importance of environmental protection so that these species continue to exist.
Instituto ADEMAFIA
15% of all sales proceeds will be donated to Instituto Ademafia, which develops social projects in the favela Santo Amaro in Rio de Janeiro where Nayara comes from, through sport and culture.
They have been helping 140 families every month, providing them with food and hygiene supplies. They have also built the first skate park inside Favela Da Maré, and developped a skate school for children. They conduct other social projects, like the distribution of toys and food for Christmas.
